Website Precious Memories for introduction the collection of approximately 10,000 old photographs about Vietnam (since 1860 to 1954) about landscape, people, life in Vietnam(Hanoi , Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City, some other localities) and information about the projectPRECIOUS MEMORIES - Promote the value of memories of Vietnam through photos.
We would receive sponsors from everybody to archieve success in this meaning project.

BÁU VẬT KÝ ỨC - Dự án Phát huy giá trị của ký ức xưa qua các bức ảnh cổ về Việt Nam trong đời sống hiện đại.

Website Báu vât ký ức để giới thiệu bộ sưu tập gồm khoảng 10.000 phiên bản ảnh cổ đã chụp từ năm 1860-1954 về cảnh vât, con người, cuộc sống ở Việt Nam (Hà Hội, Sài Gòn -TP. Hồ Chí Minh và nhiều địa phương khác) và các thông tin về dự án BÁU VẬT KÝ ỨC - Phát huy giá trị ký ức Việt Nam qua ảnh.
Mong nhận được sự ủng hộ của mọi người cho thành công dự án đầy nghĩa này.

Tên dự án: BÁU VẬT KÝ ỨC - Phát huy giá trị ký ức Việt Nam qua ảnh.
Loại hình dự án: Bảo tồn và phát huy giá trị của di sản văn hóa.
Lĩnh vực liên quan: Nhiếp ảnh, Mỹ thuật, Lịch sử, Văn hóa, Giáo dục, Truyền thông.
Hình thức thực hiện: Vận động xã hội hóa.
Sự cần thiết của dự án:
- Nhiều tư liệu chân thực nhất về lịch sử của Việt Nam qua ảnh đang bị phân tán ở khắp nơi và chưa được sử dụng hiệu quả.
- Đáp ứng nguyện vọng tha thiết của đông đảo công chúng trong và ngoài nước.
Mục đích & Ý nghĩa:
- Gìn giữ và phát huy giá trị của những bức ảnh cổ như là báu vật vô giá của lịch sử trong đời sống hiện đại.
- Góp phần nâng cao nhận thức, thu hút sự quan tâm của cộng đồng đối với lịch sử, văn hóa truyền thống Việt Nam.
- Kết nối cộng đồng vì tình yêu dành cho quê hương (đối với người Việt Nam), đất nước Việt Nam (đối với bạn bè quốc tế).
Mục tiêu:
- Tập hợp và biên tập bộ sưu tập ảnh BÁU VẬT KÝ ỨC (chụp từ năm 1860 đến 1954).
- Tổ chức các hoạt động văn hóa cộng đồng (triển lãm, xuất bản ấn phẩm, truyền thông, giao lưu,...) ở trong và ngoài nước
Đối tượng hướng tới: Những ai quan tâm, yêu mến đất nước và con người Việt Nam. Các đối tượng được chú trọng đặc biệt là:
- Thế hệ trẻ người Việt Nam đang sống ở trong và ngoài nước.
- Du khách và bạn bè quốc tế yêu mến, quan tâm đến Việt Nam.
Đề xuất & Chủ trì: Nhà sưu tầm ảnh - Kiến trúc sư ĐOÀN BẮC.
Đơn vị thực hiện:
- Nhóm Sưu tầm - Biên tập BÁU VẬT KÝ ỨC (tập hợp các cá nhân).
- Các tổ chức, doanh nghiệp hoạt động trong các lĩnh vực liên quan (đối tác đồng hành, nhà tài trợ).
Nguồn kinh phí:
- Tự thu xếp của Nhóm Sưu tầm - Biên tập BÁU VẬT KÝ ỨC.
- Tài trợ của các tổ chức, doanh nghiệp, cá nhân ở trong và ngoài nước.
Kiến trình thực hiện:
- Giai đoạn đề xuất & thử nghiệm: từ tháng 07/2010 - tháng 12/2011.
- Giai đoạn chính thức triển khai: bắt đầu từ tháng 01/2012 (dự kiến thực hiện trong khoảng 2 năm).
Địa điểm thực hiện (dự kiến):

Các thành phố lớn của Việt Nam: Hà Nội, TP Hồ Chí Minh, Đà Nẵng và các thành phố khác (tùy khả năng).
Một số thành phố tại châu Âu, châu Á và Bắc Mỹ (tùy khả năng).

Best Vietnam War Book Forum

I'd like to know what your recommendations are for the best books about the Vietnam War. I'd like to avoid this degenerating into a mud slinging contest between competing ideologies. If you could recommend one or two of the best books about the conflict, and the reasons for your recommendations, it'd be much appreciated!

Tony Williams says:

I think it has long been recognized that George Herring was the foremost Vietnam scholar. "America's Longest War" has been a standard, and he has several other books on the subject. He also added a volume on foreign relations to the magisterial Oxford History of the US, which will place the book in its larger framework/context. There are other good books, but Herring is a great place to start!

J. Koplin says:

Some of my favourites: Marilyn B. Young's "The Vietnam War" is a great history of the conflict. It contrasts the Vietnamese and American experiences/ perceptions of the war beautifully, reads extremely well, and has a nice balance of political events and interesting sidelines. If you're just starting to read about the war, I'd recommend it.

I'd also recommend Wilfred Burchett's books on Vietnam. They're first hand accounts, written during the war, and he's unique? I think? among Western journalists in that he reports from the NLF side.

And Luce and Sommer's Viet Nam- The Unheart Voices is a great collection of U.S. soldiers' letters home. A lot of the letters are surprisingly beautiful and poetic, it covers a huge range of experiences, and has, at times, a huge emotional impact.
