Backcover: De l'automne 1972 au 30 avril 1975, date de l'entrée des nord-vietnamiens dans Saigon, Frank Snepp a dirigé le bureau des analyses stratégiques de la C.I.A au Sud Vietnam. Le  récit qu'il nous donne des deux ans qui ont suivi la signature des accords de Paris, et des derniers jours qui ont précédé la chute de Saigon, est proprement halucinant.
Un gouvernement sud-vietnamien entièrement corrompu, l'armée sud-vietnamienne dirigée par des généraux incompétents; un ambassadeur américain, Graham Martin, jouant au potentat et n'écoutant que ce qu'il voulait entendre; Tom Polgar, le supérieur hiérarchique de Snepp, plus ou moins manipulé par les services français, soviétiques et hongrois. Sans oublier les millions de dollars versés à Thieu et à son armée. Tout cela pour aboutir à l'évacuation en catastrophe des dernières forces américaines et de certains de leurs alliés sud-vietnamiens.
Sauve qui peut est un livre écrit au vitriol, qui ne ménage personne, et qui, au-delà du récit ponctuel, pose la question fondamentale de l'évolution de la politique étrangère américaine. L'attitude des dirigeants américains, qui ont soutenu Thieu jusqu'au bout pour finalement le "lâcher" au dernier moment, ne préfigurait-elle pas leur actuel comportement au Moyen-Orient?

Trích: Đây là một cuốn sách khảo cứu về chính sách của Hoa Kỳ đối với cuộc chiến Việt Nam trong suốt 30 năm, từ 1945 đến 1975.
Khi viết cuốn sách nói trên, ông Nguyễn Kỳ Phong đã cố gắng biên soạn đúng theo phương pháp sử học. Chúng tôi hy vọng cuốn sách này sẽ là bước khởi đấu cho cách viết sử mới của người Việt hải ngoại.    
Ông Nguyễn Kỳ Phong là thành phần khá trẻ, năm nay mới 50 tuổi, tốt nghiệp về sử học tại Hoa Kỳ, tác giả cuốn “Người Mỹ và Chiến Tranh Việt Nam” và dịch giả cuốn “The Final Collapse”, có tên tiếng Việt là “Những ngày cuối cùng của Việt Nam Cộng Hòa” của Đại Tướng Cao Văn Viên, và cuốn “Indochina Monographs LAM SON 719” của Tướng Nguyễn Duy Hinh. Hiện nay ông là một chuyên viên nghiên cứu về quân sử.    
Cuốn “Vũng lầy Bạch Ốc, Người Mỹ và chiến tranh Việt Nam” mới được ông xuất bản dày 577 trang, bìa cứng, gồm 13 chương, khởi đầu bằng chướng nói về sự liên hệ của hai Tổng Thống Roosevelt và Truman đến cuộc chiến Việt Nam và kết thúc bằng chương nói về “Tinh thần người Mỹ trong cuộc chiến.” Tác giả đã cố gắng nghiên cứu các tài liệu trong các văn khố và các hồi ký để giúp chúng ta thấy rõ Tòa Bạch Ốc đã đi vào cuộc chiến Đông Dương, điều hành cuộc chiến đó, rồi đi ra như thế nào. Dĩ nhiên, với một khối tài liệu chất cao như núi mà chỉ tóm lược lại trong 577 trang, không thể được coi là đầy đủ được. Có rất nhiều sự kiện, nhất là các sự kiện nói lên mặt trái đàng sau quyết định của Tòa Bạch Ốc, vẫn chưa diễn tả hết được. Nhưng cuốn sách này đã chứa đựng những sự kiện căn bản có thể giúp chúng ta nhìn lại cuộc chiến một cách chính xác hơn.
